Dr. David Benisty

Hello, I am Dr. David Benisty, an astrophysicist and incoming Senior Lecturer at Bar-Ilan University. My research focuses on the greatest mysteries of our universe: exploring the nature of dark energy and dark matter, testing modified theories of gravity, and understanding the dynamics of our Local Group of galaxies in an effort to better understand cosmic expansion.

Throughout my academic journey I was a Minerva Fellow at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics in Potsdam (AIP) after being a Rothschild and Blavatnik Fellow at the University of Cambridge, UK. In my research, I combine deep theoretical knowledge with a broad background in Data Science and advanced coding skills.

Join My Research Group

I am driven by curiosity and am a strong believer in mentoring and advancing young researchers. I am always looking for creative and highly motivated graduate students (MSc / PhD) who want to work at the forefront of astrophysics and cosmology.

Students in my group receive dedicated personal mentorship, develop strong analytical thinking, and acquire highly sought-after computational tools. In addition, they take an active part in extensive international collaborations.

If you are interested in exploring the universe and want to hear about open projects, I would love to hear from you.
